Pioneer Men 3rd after Day One of ECAC Winter Championships

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team sits in 3rd place after day one of the ECAC Winter Championships held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The Pioneer men have scored 115 points and trail only St. Francis and Manhattan.

The men's 200 medley relay team of Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ), John Paul Holubek (Wayland Cohocton), Zach Russell (Pal-Mac), and Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) finished 7th. Their time of 1:48.34 is a new school record during the NCAA DIII era.

Cutler was 7th in the 1650 finishing in 11:15.67 while Holubek was 9th in 11:25.40. Tim Berry (Midlakes) finished 4th in the 3 meter diving competition. He scored 127.3 points in the event.

St. Francis leads the men's competition with 137 points followed by Manhattan 133 and Alfred State. New Jersey Institute of Technology is 4th (110), Arcadia University is 5th (92), and Pace University is 6th (90). Baruch has 60 points and Adelphi has 50.

The Lady Pioneers scored 40 points in the lone event they competed in. The 200 yard medley team of Myriah Perry (Canisteo Greedwood), Allison Sell (Hanover, PA), Megan Hendershot (Brockport), and Josey Brewer (Letchworth) was 9th finishing in 2:04.97.

Pace University leads the women's competition with 175 while Siena has 172. 

Day two of the three day event begins with preliminary action at 10 a.m.
