Pioneer Men Win Delhi Spring Invite

The Alfred State men's swimming team won the team title at the SUNY Delhi Spring Invitational. The Pioneers scored 405 points and won by 167 points. The women's team finished 3rd with 184 points.

Alison Sell (Hanover, PA) was a triple event winner while Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) and Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) won two events.

Sell won the 100 breast and set a new pool record finishing in 1:12.88. She beat the previous pool record of 1:14.27 which was set in 1998. Sell also won the 200 breast (2:46.93) and the 100 butterfly (1:08.08).

Sporysz won the 200 butterfly (2:35.23) and the 100 free (54.38) while Cutler won the 200 back (2:15.31) and the 100 butterfly (59.29).

Tim Berry (Pal-Mac) won the 3 m diving competition (144.80) and was 2nd in 1 m diving (160.75), Wyatt Lipinski (Oswego) won the 200 free (2:02.29) and was 2nd in the 100 free (54.39), and Andrew Callaghan (Pal-Mac) won the 400 IM (5:25.26).

The men's 800 free relay team of Ryan Brophy, Jake Sitter (Midlakes), Cutler, and Lipinski won in 8:27.32 while 400 medley relay team of Cutler, Tim Seitzinger (Bel Air, MD), Sporysz, and Sitter (Midlakes) was 2nd (4:15.76).

The women's 400 medley relay team of Megan Hendershot (Brockport), Josey Brewer (Letchworth), Sell, and Myriah Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) finished 2nd (4:54.58). Perry was also 3rd in the 50 free (29.82) and 3rd in the 100 free (1:03.67).

The Pioneers head up 390 next week to compete in the Geneseo Invitational. Action is slated to begin at Noon.
