Russell Leads Way for Pioneers

Zach Russell (Pal-Mac) was a double winner as Alfred State competed vs. Pitt Bradford on Saturday morning. The Panther men took a 105-87 decision while the Lady Panthers earned a 87-42 victory.

Russell won the 100 free (53.44) and the 200 free (1:55.26). In the 100 free, Russell led the Pioneers 1-2-3 finish in the event. Wyatt Lipinski (Oswego) was 2nd (56.22) and Ryan Brophy was 3rd (57.69).

Other top performances for the Pioneer men included: Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) won the 50 free (24.21). The Pioneers also got 2nd place finishes from Brophy in the 50 free (24.34), Andrew Callaghan (Pal-Mac) in the 1,000 free (12:35.30), Tim Seitzinger (Bel Air, MD) in the 200 IM (2:25.15), Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) in the 200 fly (2:14.95) and the 200 breast (2:32.29), and Don Piatek (Springville) in the 200 back (2:23.65).  

Piatek, Seitzinger, Sporysz, and Brophy were 2nd in the 400 medley relay (4:15.62) Piatek, Lipinski, Russell, and Cutler (Newton, NJ) were 2nd in the 400 free relay (3:35.94). 

On the women's side Myriah Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) and Alison Sell (Hanover, PA) earned individual victories. Perry won the 200 free (2:20.33) while Sell won the 200 breast (2:44.48). Perry was also 2nd in the 100 free (1:03.95 while Sell was 2nd in the 50 free (27.43) 

The 400 medley relay team of Megan Hendershot (Brockport), Josey Brewer (Letchworth), Sell, and Perry was 2nd in 4:45.37. Brewer was also 2nd in the 200 IM (2:49.46)

The Pioneers dive back into action next Saturday when they compete in the SUNY Delhi Invitational.
