Sell Highlights Day 2 at ECAC Winter Championships

Allison Sell (Hanover, PA) highlighted Day 2 of the Alfred State performances at the ECAC Winter Championships with an impressive swim in the 100 breaststroke. After Day 2, the men's team has scored 286.5 points and sits in 8th place while the women are in 10th with 168 points.

Sell qualified for the ECAC Open Championships in late February at the Naval Academy with a 6th place finish in the 100 breast. She finished 1:09.41 which is nearly five seconds faster than her previous best. Sell also was 12th in the 200 breast (2:35.58) and 14th in the 400 IM (4:59.47). Sell is the first Pioneer to ever qualify for the end of the year championship.

Sell teamed with Myriah Perry (Canisteo Greenwood), Megan Hendershot (Brockport), and Josey Brewer (Letchworth) to finish 9th in the 800 free relay (9:42.18) and 10th in the 200 free relay (1:57.21).

Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) led the men's team on day two. He was 12th in the 400 IM (4:29.56), 14th in the 200 back (2:06.45), and 18th in the 200 fly (2:09.41). 

Tim Berry (Midlakes) was 5th in the 1 meter diving competition with a score of 1:55.10 while John Paul Holubek (Wayland Cohocton) was 17th in the 200 breast (2:30.77). Tim Seitzinger (Bel Air, MD) was 21st in the 200 fly (2:22.23) and Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) was 22nd (2:22.99) in the same event. 

Both the men's 200 free relay team (1:35.61) and the 800 free relay team (7:56.91) finished 8th.

Siena leads the women's competition with 1,229 points while New Jersey Institute of Technology leads the men's competition with 1,033 points.

The final session of the three day championships begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
