Lady Spikers Run Winning Streak to Six

The Alfred State volleyball team ran their winning streak to six games with a pair of victories at Elmira on Saturday. The Lady Pioneers defeated Elmira 25-14, 25-16, 26-24 and Cazenovia 25-7, 25-13, 25-21.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) led Alfred State with 13 kills and added eight digs in the victory over Elmira. Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) passed out 29 assists and recorded a team high 13 digs. Shaina Griffin (Portville) finished with seven kills, Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) had six, and Grace Hall (Ellicottville) and Jessica Padley (Sweet Home) both chipped in six.

The Lady Pioneers hit over .400 in the first two sets and finished the contest with a .292 mark on their 40 kills. The team also recorded 12 service aces.

Natalie Schieder led the Eagles with 10 kills while Taylor Kaznowski passed out 22 assists.

Shannon Dwyer (Cutchogue/Mattituck) led Alfred State with 10 kills in the victory over Cazenovia. Padley added eight kills, Szpaicher passed out 17 assists, and Madison Webster (Corning) led the team with 12 digs. 

Fourteen Lady Pioneers saw action in the game. The team recorded 32 kills (.275 hitting %) and served 15 more aces.

Allison Lowery passed out 11 assists and Amethyst Thompson led the team with 10 digs.

The blue & gold have a week off before heading to Pennsylvania for a tri-match with Penn State New Kenzington and Penn State Beaver.
