Streak Reaches Twelve

The Alfred State volleyball team defeated Neumann 25-22, 21-25, 25-16, 25-21 on Saturday to run their season opening winning streak to twelve. The victory also completed a sweep of the Lady Pioneers three matches at the Ramapo (NJ) Tournament this weekend.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) continued to lead the way for the blue & gold. She finished with 11 kills, seven digs, and six service aces. Jessica Padley (Buffalo/Sweet Home) had nine kills and eight digs, Grace Hall (Ellicottville) added eight kills, and Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) chipped in seven kills. Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) finished with 38 assists and nine digs while Madison Webster (Corning) finished with a team high 19 digs.

Hayley Glah led Neumann (6-11) with 12 kills while Rachael Hoffman passed out 34 assists.

Alfred State hit only .137 on the day but recorded 16 service aces. The team also was credited with 57 digs.

The Lady Pioneers, ranked #4 in the USCAA, are back on the court again on Friday when they travel to the Lycoming Tournament. They battle Gettysburg (6 p.m.) and the University of Rochester (8 p.m.) on Friday evening.
