Lady Pioneers Win Regular Season Finale

On a night that the Alfred State volleyball team celebrated their quartet of seniors, the Lady Pioneers capped a perfect home season with a 25-12, 22-25, 25-9, 25-10 victory over Cazenovia. The blue & gold improve to 23-4 on the year.

A trio, Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga), Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville), and Shaina Griffin (Portville) of Lady Pioneers finished with 10 kills on the day. Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) passed out 28 assists, Grace Hall (Ellicottville) had seven kills, Madison Webster (Corning) had nine digs, and Jessica Padley (Sweet Home) recorded three of the teams 12 service aces.

Kassondra Kreppein led Cazenovia with six kills while Allison Lowery passed out 10 assists. 

Prior to the game, Hamilton, Hall, Szpaicher, and Padley were honored for their outstanding careers at Alfred State. The team has over 90 wins in the last four years and has made back-to-back trips to the USCAA and ECAC Championships.

The blue & gold will now await their seeding for the 2016 USCAA Championships. The seeding will be announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Prior to heading to the USCAA Championships in Virginia Beach, VA, the Pioneers will travel to Chicago, IL next Saturday to compete in the ACAA Championships hosted by Illinois Tech. Alfred State will take on Finlandia (MI) at 12:30 p.m. and the hosts at 3 p.m.
