Cardona, Padley, and Shofi Collect Two Hits

Alfred State outhit Washington (MD) College 10 to 9 but fell 7-4 to the Shoreman. The Shoreman (10-1-1) took advantage of five Pioneer miscues in the contest.

The blue & gold took an early lead in the 1st on a RBI single by Nick Padley (Sweet Home). Washington answered back with two in the 2nd but the Pioneers retook a 3-2 lead in the 3rd on a Andy Pichardo (Academy) RBI single and Padley scoring on a passed ball.

The Shoreman scored three runs (two unearned) in the 4th to regain the lead and never gave it back up. Rafael Perozo (St. Raymond) hit a sac fly in the 5th to make it 6-4 but Nick Roberti and Mike Bartels allowed just one hit in the final five frames to secure the victory.

 

Jake Remington (Letworth) went four innings and allowed just two earned runs while striking out three. Kyle Sickau (Hamburg) backed up Remington out of the pen and pitched three very effective innings as he allowed only one run. Andrew Weigman (Genesee Valley) came in to record the final three outs, allowing just one hit. 

Cardona and Padley were each 2 for 4 while Thomas Shofi (Carmel) was 2 for 5.

Luke D'Ostilio led Washington with a three-hit day while Bryan Baquer and Evan Hirschbaum each collected two hits each. The 2-3-4 hitters combined for seven of the team's nine hits in the contest.

The Pioneers round out their spring trip to Myrtble Beach, SC tomorrow Noon when they take on Principia at the Cal Ripken Experience.
