Pioneers Drop Game in Rochester

The Alfred State Pioneers took a loss today against the University of Rochester. The final score was 10-4. 

In the first inning the Pioneers started the scoring with a one- RBI single from Jack Curabba. After the first inning the game was tied at one, as UofR answered with a run of their own. The Pioneers could not get the ball rolling again until the 5th inning which by then had Rochester jumped out to a lead. The score in the 5th was a Nick Serce sac fly, driving in Bryson Rigsby. The final runs for the Pioneers came in the 8th from Serce scoring on a wild pitch. The last and final score for the Pioneers was basehit up the middle by Owen Lansing.

The Pioneers matched Rochester today with 11 total hits. 

The pitching staff for Alfred State tallied 7 total strikeouts with 5 different pitchers. Caden Fortunato threw 4 innings of solid relief, allowing 2 runs and striking out 2. 

The Pioneers play at La Roche on Saturday, April 29 at 1:00pm. The double header will be the team's last conference games until they host the postseason tournament in two weeks.
