Football Team Predicted 4th in ECFC Preseason Poll

The Alfred State football team has been predicted to finish 4th in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) preseason coaches poll. The poll was voted on by the league's seven head coaches.

The Pioneers are busy preparing to open up their season opener on September 4th when they host Utica. The contest will be the first for the Pioneers since November 9, 2019. The 2019 version of the Pioneers finished 4-6 overall after winning two of their final three contests. The team was 2-3 in ECFC play.

Dean College, the 2019 ECFC Champion, received 45 total points in the poll (5 first place votes) and sits three points ahead of Maritime (42 - 1 first place vote). Anna Maria received one first place vote and is predicted 3rd (30 points) followed by Alfred State in 4th (29 points). Castleton is 5th (28 points), Gallaudet is 6th (14 points), and newcomer Keystone is 7th (8 points).

Alfred State, Castleton, Dean and Keystone open up on September 4th while Maritime kicks off on September 10th, Anna Maria on September 11th, and Gallaudet on September 18th.

The Pioneers will play a 10-game schedule starting with four non-conference games. After hosting Utica on the 4th, the travel to Rochester on the 11th, host the University of New England on the 18th, and travel to Defiance on the 25th. After a weekend off they begin ECFC play with a home contest vs. Maritime (10/9). Homecoming 2021 is October 16th versus Anna Maria. Road games at Gallaudet and Keystone follow before the home finale vs. Castleton on November 6th. The regular season concludes the next weekend at Dean.
