Broadwater Named to D3football.com Team of the Week
The honors continue to pour in for Alfred State wide receiver Shy'rel Broadwater (Syracuse/Cicero North Syracuse). Today he was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Broadwater had a huge day in the Pioneers game at Rochester. He caught nine passes (ties an Alfred State NCAA DIII record) for 249 yards and two scores. Both of his touchdown receptions (25 and 53 yards) came in the 4th quarter and helped the Pioneers take the lead. His 249 yards establishes a new NCAA DIII era record for Alfred State.
Yesterday, Broadwater was named the ECFC Offensive Player of the Week and the Alfred State Athlete of the Week.
Broadwater was one of three wide receivers honored nationwide. He was joined by Dakota Romantino from Waynesburg and Trevor Cunningham from Moravian.
Broadwater is just the second Pioneer to ever earn D3football.com Team of the Week honors. Running back Rasheed Williams was honored during the 2014 season.
Alfred State hosts the University of New England on Saturday at Noon.
