Men's Basketball Tips Off Season Friday

The 2015-16 Alfred State men's basketball season tips off on Friday night as the Pioneers head to the Nazareth Tournament to take on Sage. The Pioneers feature a larger roster, many new faces, and an up-tempo attack.

Jusin Wallace (Mount St. Michael) is joined by Mitch Luckman (Barker), Robbie Adams (Jasper Troupsburg), Adam Fezza(Southhampton), and Tyler Elliott (Perry) as the five returners. The five returners are joined by 15 new faces.

The Pioneers schedule opens up at the Nazareth Invitational this weekend and includes contests with local rivals PittBradford (11/17), Houghton (12/10), and Keuka (1/6). The Pioneers will also face some stillUSCAA competition with games vs. Maine Fort Kent (12/6), SUNY ESF (12/12 & 1/16), SUNYCanton (1/20 & 2/6), and a match-up with the defending USCAA DII champion Berkeley (2/14).

Recently, Wallace answered a few questions in preparation for the upcoming season. Wallace averaged 6.8 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game last year.

What are the expectations for the upcoming season?

For this upcoming season ,the team expectation is for us to take a much bigger step than last season's results. 

In one word, how do you describe this team? Determined

What do you think of the team's style of play?

We are going to play fast and keep a high tempo pace. 

How is the team's style of play different than other seasons?

This year we aren't going give the defense a chance to get ready. We are going to be up tempo and intense from start to finish.

A lot of new faces on the team this year, how will that effect the team early on in the season?

The new faces will have a positive effect because majority of the new faces are transfers and have played collegiate basketball before for there previous school. They bring with them some collegiate playing experience.
