Pioneers Chop Down Mighty Oaks

Quadrelle Roberts (Rochester/Franklin) connected on seven 3-pointers as Alfred State defeated SUNY ESF 88-69 to close out the 2015 portion of their season. Roberts and the Pioneers connected on nine 3-pointers on the day and forced 25 turnovers.

ESF scored first but never led after the first minute. The Pioneers built a 47-28 lead at halftime behind five three pointers by Roberts. The blue & gold pushed the lead to as many as 23 in the 2nd half before the Mighty Oaks tried to mount a comeback. Alfred State never let ESF closer than 12 the rest of the way.

D'ondre Davis (Brooklyn/William Grady) finished the day with 13 points and seven boards, Dane Jordan (New York/Law & Public Service) added 10, and Tyler Elliott (Perry) had nine points and seven boards. Tyrone Davis (Brooklyn/Benjamin Banneker) chipped in six points, 10 assists, and six steals, Adam Fezza (Southhampton) added 8 and Mitch Luckman (Barker) had seven.

The Pioneers shot 52.5% (32 for 61) from the field on the day, hit 9 of 18 three-point attempts, and connected on 15 of 26 foul shots.

Dan Treadwell led the Mighty Oaks with 22 points, four assists, and four steals. Ryan Caldwell finished with 15 and Jared Bard chipped in 12. SUNY ESF shot 42.3% from the field, hit 7 of 14 three point attempts, and shot 62.1% from the foul line.

The Pioneers head into the mid-semester break with a 3-9 mark and return to action on January 6th when they travel to Keuka for a 6 p.m. contest.
