Five Finish in Double Figures vs. Mansfield

Five Pioneers scored in double-figures in an offensive slugfest vs. Mansfield on Sunday afternoon. The Mountaineers hit 16 three-pointers in the 106-94 victory.

Mansfield hit their first 5 three-pointers and raced out to a 30-12 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. They ended up hitting 10 of 17 three-point attempts in the 1st half and led 61-42. The blue & gold fought back in the 2nd half and cut the lead to 82-72 with just over seven minutes to go but couldn't get any closer.

Dior Dixon (Brooklyn/Bishop Loughlin) and Quadrelle Roberts (Rochester/Franklin) both had 15 points for the Pioneers. Marquis Edwards (Queens/In-Tech Academy) finished with 13 points and eight rebounds while Tyler Elliott (Perry) and Adam Fezza (Southhampton) each finished with 10. 

Alfred State shot 50% (35 for 70) on the day, was 8 of 22 from three, and was 16 for 25 from the foul line.

Thomas Moore led the Mountaineers with 26 points. He was 10 for 13 from the field and was 6 of 7 from three. Gerisimos Koutoufas added 18, Joe Marshall finished with 14, and DaQuan Jones chipped in 13. Eric Lewis (12) and Matt Tamanosky (10) also finished in double figures.

Mansfield shot 58.2% (39 for 67) in the contest, hit 16 of 27 three point attempts, and was 12 of 19 from the foul line. The Mountaineers held a 41-35 advantage on the boards. 

Alfred State is back at it tomorrow night when they host Morrisville at 7 p.m.
