Big 2nd Half Leads D'Youville

D'Youville shot 55.6% in the 2nd half as they earned a 93-77 victory over Alfred State in the consolation game of the Nazareth Tournament. The Spartans outscored the Pioneers 51-35 after the heading to the half tied at 42-42.

The Spartans were 20 for 36 from the field including 4 of 10 from three and 7 of 10 from the foul line in the 2nd half after shooting 35.5% from the field in the opening half. 

Marcus Clarke led five D'Yoville players that finished in double figures with 18 points. Jon Gemerek and Juan Roasales both had 14, Zach Blask added 11, and Jake Socha finished with 10. Will Van Auken finished with eight points and 16 boards.

Quadrelle Roberts (Rochester/Franklin) came off the bench and led the Pioneers with 17 points on 5 for 7 shooting (4 of 6 from three. Marquis Edwards (Queens/In-Tech Academy) finished with 12, Dior Dixon (Brooklyn/Bishop Loughlin) had 10 points and seven boards, and Tyrone Davis (Brooklyn/Benjamin Banneker) chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.

Alfred State shot 31.7% from the field in the 2nd half but only 28.9% in the 2nd. On the day, the Pioneers hit 7 of 33 three-point attempts. D'Youville held a 55 to 44 rebounding advantage.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to Pitt-Bradford for a 6 p.m. contest with the Panthers.
