Pioneers 12th at Brockport

Victoire Kothor (Greece Odyssey) led Alfred State as they opened up competition in 2015 at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational. Both the men and women finished 12th in the competition.

Kothor set a new school record in the weight throw with a toss of 13.54 m. It was the first time she had ever competed in the weight throw. Her toss which placed her 7th in the competition breaks the former record of Caitlin Eliazewskyj (13.42 m) from 2006. Kothor was also 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 12.12 m. Her shot put performance was 3rd best in school history and qualified her for the ECAC Championships.

Maddi McDonald (Lansing), Diane Sill (Kendall), Angel Bresnahan (Mexico), and Brianna Byrnes (Jordan Elbridge) was 6th (1:57.79). Carissa Plesums (Warsaw) was 6th in the high jump (1.50 m).

On the men's side, Brandon Teboe (Falconer) was 6th in the pole vault (4.20 m), John Adewumi (Bordertown) was 7th in the triple jump (12.98 m), and Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 8th in the 5,000 (17:13.70).

The 4x200 relay team of Kyle Jones (Wilson), Zack Woodard (South Jefferson), Adewumi and Joseph Richardson (Geneva) finished 5th in 1:35.48 while the distance medley relay team of Brandon Moore (Newfield), Cody Marvin (Bath), Donald Byfield (Freeport, Grand Bahamas), and Michael Girard (Phoenix) finished 7th in 12:38.74.

The women scored 17 points on the day while the men scored 12.

Alfred State is back in action next weekend when they compete at Houghton on Friday and Saturday.
