Pioneer Sit in 10th after Day One of NYS Championships

Both Alfred State outdoor track & field teams sit in 10th place after day one of the NYS Championships. Brandon Teboe (Falconer), John Adewumi (Bordertown), Steffanie Preston (Groton) and the women's 4x800 relay team had solid performances.

Teboe recorded a leap of 4.35 m (14'3") to capture 2nd place in the 21 athlete field in the pole vault.

Adewumi advanced to the finals of the 100 m with a sprint of 11.04. His time qualifies him for the ECAC Championships as well.

Preston finished 4th in the javelin on the women's side with a toss of 31.93 m. The performance was the best of the season for Preston.

The 4x800 relay team of Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville), Kelly Healy (Maple Hill), Brianna Byrnes (Jordan Elbridge), and Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) finished 8th with a season best time of 10:23.64.

The Pioneers continue to compete in the NYS Championship on Saturday afternoon at St. Lawrence.
