Pioneers Compete at NYS Championships

The indoor track & field team had some impressive performances during day one of the New York State Championships. The Pioneers had five new program top ten performances.

Victoire Kothor (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) was 4th in the weight throw and reset her own school record with a toss of 15.38 m.

The women's 4x200 relay team of Maddi McDonald (Lansing), Casey Bills (Hudson Falls), Angel Bresnahan (Mexico), and Diane Sill (Kendall) finished 8th and recorded the 2nd fastest time in school history (1:51.04).

Bresnahan registered a leap of 5.05 m in the long jump to move to 4th in the all-time list while the distance medley relay team (Brianna Byrnes - Jordan Elbridge, Mikaela Shaw - Attica, Cassandra Ryan - Gloversville, and Kelly Healy - Maple Hill) finish in 14:45.93 - 9th best in school history.

On the men's side, John Adewumi (Bordertown) qualified for the 60 m finals with a finish of 7.30 (8th best in school history) in the prelims. He was also part of the 4x200 relay that finished 8th (1:34.94). He teamed with Kyle Jones (Wilson), Joseph Richardson (Geneva), and Zach Woodard (South Jefferson).

The men's distance medley relay team of Dominic Freudenvol (Greece Arcadia), John Woodworth (LeRoy), Jonathan Pearl (Campbell Savona), and Keith Johnson (Webster Thomas) finished in 11:01.72 to move to 7th all-time.

The NYS Championships continues tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at RIT's Gordon Fieldhouse.
