Strong Day for Track & Field at Mansfield

The Alfred State track and field team had a strong day at the Mansfield University Mountaineer Invitational on Saturday evening. The Pioneers won 15 events on the day.

Angel Brenahan (Mexico) and Victoire Kothor (Greece Odyssey) led the women's team.  Bresnahan (Mexico) won the 100 m (13.35) and the long jump (5.28 m) while Kothor won the shot put (11.96 m) and the discus (33.75 m). She was also 3rd in the hammer throw (42.52 m).

In the 400 hurdles, the Lady Pioneers took the top four spots. Casey Bills (Hudson Falls) won in 1:13.29, Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 2nd (1:14.10), Diane Sill (Kendall) was 3rd (1:15.65), and Mikaela Shaw (Attica) was 4th (1:18.30). Carrisa Plesums (Warsaw) won the triple jump (30.33 m).

The 4x100 relay (52.96 - McDonald, Sill, Bresnahan, and Bills) and the 4x400 relay (4:32.83 - Bresnahan, McDonald, Sill, and Brianna Brynes - Jordan Elbridge) raced to 1st place finishes.

Maddi McDonald (Lansing) was 2nd in the 100 m (13.42), Haley Anderson (Lyndonville) was 2nd in the discus (29.12 m), 4th in the shot put (9.94 m), and 5th in the hammer throw (35.67 m).

Zack Woodard (South Jefferson) led the men with two first place finishes. He won the 100 m (11.43) and the 200 m (22.85).

Steve Carpenter won the 110 hurdles (21.08), Brandon Teboe (Falconer) won the pole vault (4.25 m), Joseph Richardson (Geneva) won the triple jump (12.78 m), and Ryan Seward (Pembroke) won the javelin (37.20 m).

Other top finishes included: Skylor Saxton (Scio) was 2nd in the 100 m (12.13), Kyle Jones (Wilson) was 2nd in the 200 m (24.23), and Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 3rd in the 5,000 m (16:19.06)

The 4x100 relay team of Woodard, Jones, Nick Ambos (Croton Harmon), and John Woodworth (LeRoy) won in 45.29 while the 4x400 relay was 2nd (Woodard, Jones, Woodworth, and Ambos).

A select few Pioneers will compete at the prestigious Penn Relays this week while the rest of the team will head to Brockport next Saturday.
