The Alfred State volleyball team opened up their 2015 campaign with a 25-12, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19 victory over SUNY Delhi (2-1).
The Lady Pioneers connected on 12 kills in the first set to grab the early lead. Delhi bounced back in game two before the blue and gold were able to get going with 10 kills in each the third and fourth game to earn the victory.
Lera Braun (Waterloo) led the Lady Pioneers with 31 assists, 12 digs, and five kills. Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) led the Lady Pioneers with 11 kills and chipped in seven digs. Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) recorded 10 kills, Jess Padley (Sweet Home) had eight kills, seven digs, and three aces.
The Lady Pioneers are back in action on Friday when they host tri-match with D'Youville and Hilbert. Alfred State takes on D'Youville at 3 p.m. and Hilbert at 7 p.m.
