Volleyball Season Comes to an End in ECAC Semis

The Alfred State volleyball season came to an end on Saturday as #1 seed Ramapo defeated the #4 Lady Pioneers 3-1 in the semifinals of the ECAC Upstate/Metro Championships. The blue & gold wrap up the season with a 28-11 record.

The Roadrunners started out fast with a 25-11 victory in set one. They fought off a pesky Pioneer team in set two 25-20 to take a 2-0 lead but the Pioneers regrouped and took set three 25-19. Ramapo held off a couple Pioneers rallies in the fourth set and earned a trip to the finals with a 25-21 victory.

Larysa Iwaskiw led Ramapo with 22 kills and eight digs. Rachel Selmore added 13 kills while Kaitlin Mac Iver passed out 41 assists and had 12 digs. Kristen Behrens had 12 digs, Emily Harris and Sarah Mulligan each had 11 digs, and Natalia Saavedra finished with 10. The Roadrunners registered a .180 hitting percentage and was credited with six service aces.

Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) and Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) both finished with 11 kills to lead the way for Alfred State. Lera Braun (Waterloo) passed out 34 assists and had 10 digs while Madison Webster (Corning) led the team with 16 digs. The Lady Pioneers hit .124 in the contest and was slowed down by nine service errors.

The Pioneers were making their second straight trip to the ECAC Tournament. The team has a 53-21 record in the past two years.
