Braun and Hamilton Named USCAA All-American

Alfred State senior setter Lera Braun (Waterloo) and junior middle hitter Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) were recently named USCAA All-Americans. Braun was named to the 1st team while Hamilton was a 2nd team selection.

Braun, who was named a 2nd team All-USCAA All-American last year, passed out 1,147 assists (8.76 per set) in 131 sets played. She also accumulated 313 digs (2.39 per set), 114 kills (.274 hitting percentage), and led the team with 80 service aces.

Braun passed out at least 10 assists in all but one of the Lady Pioneers 39 matches. She had a season best 54 assists in a five-set victory over Houghton. In 12 games, Braun had more than 10 assists with a season high 20 assists vs. Carlow at the USCAA Championships. Her best serving day came when she registered 10 aces in a three-set sweep of CCNY.

Braun ends her career with 3,792 assists (8.05 per set), 1,036 digs, 512 kills, and 286 aces.

Hamilton led the Lady Pioneers with 327 kills on the season and a .356 hitting percentage. She also picked up 102 digs, 56 solo blocks and 37 aces. In 16 games this year, Hamilton registered more than 10 kills. Her season best 18 kills came in the quarterfinals of the USCAA Championships vs. Carlow.

Hamilton has recorded 538 kills in her two-years wearing the blue & gold. She also has 142 digs, 99 solo blocks, and 42 aces.

The Lady Pioneers finished the 2015 season with a 28-11 mark and qualified for the second consecutive year for the USCAA National Championships and the ECAC Upstate/Metro Tournament.
