Lady Pioneers Earn Two More Victories

The Alfred State volleyball team earned two more victories on Saturday to improve to 18-3 on the season. The Lady Pioneers defeated Farmingdale 25-23, 25-13, 25-18 and Cazenovia 25-13, 25-10, 23-25, 25-13.

Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) collected 10 kills in the match vs. Farmingdale while Lera Braun (Waterloo) passed out 21 assists. Grace Hall (Ellicottville) was tough with the serve registering six of the team's 10 aces in the contest. Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) and Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) both chipped in 14 digs.

Christina Hickey led Farmingdale with six kills, Megan Pisciotta passed out eight assists, and Francesca Calderon was credited with nine digs.

Braun finished with 31 assists, seven digs, and four aces in the victory over Cazenovia. Hamilton recorded nine kills while Hall had eight kills and 4 blocks. The Lady Pioneers got contributions from all 12 members of the team.

Erin Sweeney led Cazenovia with nine kills, Allison Lowery had 12 assists, and Samanatha McCarthy led the way with 18 digs.

The Lady Spikers are back at it on Thursday when they travel to Davis College for a 6 p.m. start with the Falcons.
