Lady Spikers Win a Pair

The Alfred State volleyball team won a pair as they hosted a tri-match on Friday evening. The Pioneers defeated D'Youville 3-1 (25-7, 18-25, 25-16, 25-12) and Hilbert 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-18).

Lera Braun (Waterloo) had a monster game vs. D'Youville. She finished with 21 assists, 12 kills, and eight digs. Valerie Intini (Rochester/Eastridge) finished with 30 digs, Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) finished with 10 kills, and Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) chipped in seven kills and 14 digs. Alfred State had a .327 hitting percentage for the game including a .812 hitting percentage in set one.

Hamilton led the offense with eight kills vs. Hilbert while Godfrey and Jess Padley (Sweet Home) each chipped in six. Braun finished with 22 assists and seven service aces. The Lady Pioneers collected 16 aces in the contest.

The blue & gold (3-0) have a week off before heading to Keuka next Friday evening for a 6 p.m. contest with the Wolfpack.
