Lady Pioneers Make it Twelve Straight

The Alfred State volleyball team ran their winning streak to a dozen with a sweep of Elmira on Wednesday evening. The Lady Pioneers defeated the Eagles 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.

Lera Braun (Waterloo) had a big night with 29 assists, nine digs, and five kills. Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) chipped in six kills and seven digs, Grace Hall (Ellicottville) had six kills, and Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) and Jess Padley (Sweet Home) each had five kills and six digs. Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) and Valerie Intini (Eastridge) both recorded nine digs.

Ashley Heiman led the Eagles (6-3) with nine kills, Taylor Kaznowski passed out 17 assists, and Natalie Shieder was credited with 14 digs.

Alfred State is the lone member of the USCAA that is still undefeated. 

The Lady Pioneers travel to the Lycoming Invitational this weekend. They battle Wilkes (6 p.m.) and Lycoming (8 p.m.) on Friday and CCNY (10 a.m.) and Misericordia (Noon) on Saturday.
