Lady Pioneers Earn #4 Seed
The Alfred State volleyball team will return to the USCAA Championships for the second straight year. The Lady Pioneers will enter the tournament as the #4 seed.
The blue & gold, currently 22-4 on the season, will be in Pool A with #1 Florida College (23-5), #5 St. Mary's of the Woods (14-14), #8 Penn State Brandywine (20-3), and #9 Maine Fort Kent (21-7).
The Pioneers played Florida College, the defending champion, twice at last year's Nationals with the Falcons taking both matches. This last weekend Alfred State defeated Maine Fort Kent 3-0 at the Canton Tournament.
Pool B will feature #2 SUNY Canton (23-7), #3 Rochester College (20-20), #6 Berea College (15-13), #7 Carlow University (15-13), and #10 New Hampshire Tech (16-8).
Alfred State battled SUNY Canton last weekend and lost a five set contest. The Lady Pioneers played Berea and Carlow at the 2014 Championships.
After a practice day and the National Championship banquet on Wednesday, November 4th, the Lady Pioneers will take on Maine Fort Kent at 10 a.m. and Penn State Brandywine at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pool play continues on Friday with Alfred State taking on St. Mary's of the Woods at 10 a.m. and Florida College at 2:30 p.m.
The championship quarterfinals are slated for 4:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. on Friday with the semifinals and finals scheduled for Saturday November 7th starting at 10 a.m.
