Baseball Swept by Erie CC
The Alfred State baseball team was swept by Erie CC, 15-1 & 9-5, in a WNYAC doubleheader on Sunday. The Pioneers were playing for the first time in eleven days.
In the opener, ECC jumped out to an early 9-0 lead and never looked back. Alfred scored their lone run in the 3rd when Greg Koller (Chesterland, OH) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton) finished 2 for 3 on the day.
In the nightcap, Erie broke a 5-5 tie with four runs in the 7th inning. Daiki Iizuka (Chiba, Japan) was 3 for 3 with a RBI while Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg) was 3 for 4. Wheaton finsihed the day 2 for 3 with a RBI triple.
The Pioneers return to action on next weekend when they host Monroe CC on Saturday at 1 p.m. The team will also host Niagara CCC on Sunday.
