Colton Caldwell (Dublin, OH) tossed a two-hit complete game shutout to lift Alfred State to a 1-0 victory in game two of their doubleheader split at Chesapeake (MD) College. The Skipjacks won the opener 12-2.
Caldwell kept the previously unbeaten Skipjacks (7-1) lineup silent with a stellar two-hit performance for the first win of the season for the Pioneers (1-7). The Pioneers scored the lone run of the game in the 3rd inning when Anthony Gonzalez (Florida, NY/SS Seward Institute) doubled home Steven Stapleton (Williamsville/Sweet Home) who had singled to lead off the inning.
The Pioneers are scheduled to play Houghton JV on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. before heading to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC next weekend.
