Solid First Day for Indoor Track at NYS Championships

The Alfred State indoor track and field team had a solid first day at the NYS Championships held at Ithaca College. The women's team is currently 7th (12 points) out of 12 teams while the men are 11th (1.5 points).

Victoire Kothor (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) broke her own school record in the weight throw. Her toss of 16.68 m was good for 2nd place.

Angel Bresnahan (Mexico) was 5th in the long jump with a leap of 5.18 m. Her mark is the 3rd best all time at Alfred State. Bresnahan teamed with Maddi McDonald (Lansing), Alexis Carrington (Manhattan/NYC I School), and Holly Fiore to earn 9th in the 4x200 relay (1:55.29 - 7th all-time).

Earlier in the day, Fiore had a great performance in the pentathlon. She scored 2,295 points which places her 3rd time at Alfred State. Her highest point totals came in the  60 hurdles (537 points - 11.00) and in the 800 (521 points - 2:44.65).

On the men's side, Zach Curran (Williamson) finished 7th in the pole vault with a leap of 4.10 m. Steven Campbell (Chenango Valley) was 20th in the weight throw with a toss of 12.31 m.

The second day of the NYS Championships begin at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow.
