Hot Shooting Lifts SUNY Poly

The SUNY Poly women's basketball team shot 48.4% from the field as they defeated Alfred State 87-57 on Tuesday evening. The Wildcats are now 12-1 on the year while the Pioneers are now 7-5.

SUNY Poly jumped out to a 22-14 lead after the 1st quarter and led 44-26 at half. In the 2nd half they continued to add to their lead and led by as many as 42 before the Pioneers went on a run late in the 4th quarter.

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) led the blue & gold with 20 points, nine boards, and four blocks. Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) finished with 15 points and Kimberly Levee (Dansville) finished with nine. The Lady Pioneers shot 40% from the field and 80% from the foul line but were only 1 for 11 from three.

Stevie Ray was 7 for 11 from three-point land and led all scorers with 31 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and passed out four assists. Khristaijah Jackson finished with 20 points and seven boards. The Wildcats were 31 for 64 from the field, hit 10 of their 21 three-point attempts (47.6%), and 15 for 23 from the foul line.

The Pioneers are back at it on Friday when they battle Pratt Institute.
