Chambers finishes 3rd in Long Jump at Track Nationals

Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili) finished 3rd in the long jump to highlight day one for Alfred State at the 2013 NJCAA Indoor National Championships.  Chambers and Travis Nagle (Randolph) are representing the Pioneers at the two-day event held at Texas Tech University.

Chambers came into the long jump competition with the 5th best jump of the season in the NJCAA  but was able to leap to a 3rd place finish.  His best jump of the day in his last attempt measured 23'4" (7.11 m) and earned the Pioneers six points.

Nagle sits in 9th place after the first four events of the heptathlon.  He has scored 2,444 and trails 8th place by 34 points with three events on Saturday.  His top scoring event of the day was a high jump of 1.83 m which earned 653 points.

Nagle also participated in the pole vault competition but did not register a height.

Nagle will complete the heptathlon competition on Saturday morning looking to add to the Pioneers point total.
