Nagle Finishes 8th in Heptathlon at Nationals

Alfred State sophomore Travis Nagle (Randolph) finished the heptathlon in 8th place to highlight day two at the 2013 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships at Texas Tech.  His score of 4,441 breaks his own school record.

Nagle sat in 9th place after day one of the competition and was able to move up one spot in the three events this morning.  He was just 34 points from claiming 7th place.

Nagle's best performance was in the pole vault when he cleared a height of 4.30 m to earn 702 points.  He earned 694 points in the 1000 m with a time of 2:57.01.

His total score of 4,441 is 120 more than he scored earlier in the season when he won the Region III heptathlon.

Nagle and his teammate Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili) combined to score seven points in the competition.  The seven points earned the Pioneers 23rd place out of 31 teams that scored.  Chambers finished 3rd in the long jump on Friday night.

The Pioneers will next be in action on March 23rd when they open up the Outdoor season at the West Chester Invitational
