Men 1st, Women 3rd at Alfred Quad

The Alfred State men's team ran away with the top spot at the Alfred State Quad Meet on Friday afternoon while the women's team was 3rd.  Alfred competed vs. Roberts Wesleyan, Daemen College, and Herkimer CCC in the event that featured high wind, rain, and a temperature drop of 15 degrees mid meet.

The 4x100 relay team of Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili), Dane Dechow (Randolph), Brian Tubbs (Chemung/Waverly), and Zack Woodard (Adams Center/South Jefferson) won in 43.67.

Frankie Bailey (Rochester/John Marshall) was a double-winner by winning the 110 hurdles (17.28) and the 400 hurdles (59.12).

Chambers won the 100 m (11.51), Nate Andres (Arcade/Pioneer) won the 400 m (51.67), Jordan Rusek (Buffalo/Williamsville East) won the 5,000 (17.56.4), Rafael Ramirez (Parksville/Tri-Valley) won the javelin (42.28 m), Josiah Thomas (Rochester/John Marshall) won the triple jump (13.21 m), Tylor Lehman (Wellsville) won the javelin (42.28 m) and Brian Edwards (Neversink/Tri-Valley) won the discus (42.38 m).

The Pioneers scored 92 points and were followed by Roberts Wesleyan's 26, Daemen's 22, and Herkimer CCC's 17.

Billie Carroll (Rochester/Edison Tech) won the 100 hurdles (18.53) while Courtney Wheststine (Lewiston Porter) won the triple jump (8.61 m) to pace the Lady Pioneers.

Tiara Summers (Staten Island/Port Richmond) was 2nd in the 100 (13.43), Megan Dillon (Angola/Lake Shore) was 2nd in the 800 (2:56.77), and the 4x100 relay team of Summers, Carroll, Tanzania Blair (Rochester/Rush Henrietta), and Amahtala Walker (Rochester/School of the Arts) finished 2nd and recorded their fastest time of the year (51.45).

Roberts won the wome's competition with 60 points followed by Daemen's 44, Alfred's 29, and Herkimer's 4.

In the javelin, Jolene Paonessa (Lodi/South Seneca) qualified for Nationals with a 2nd place finish (28.25 m) while Sam Sherwin (Williamson) qualified in the hammer throw with a 3rd place finish (41.55 m).

Ryan Seward (Corfu/Pembroke), Travis Nagle (Randolph), and Anthony Soto (Waterloo) along with Ella Donovan (Wanakena/Clifton Fine), Brooke Kratzer (Canisteo/Canisteo Greenwood), and Paonessa will compete starting on Sunday in the Region III Multi.  Action starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Pioneer Stadium.
