Nagle 2nd in Decathlon, Paonessa 3rd in Heptathlon

Alfred State sophomore Travis Nagle (Randolph) was 2nd in the Region III Decathlon while Jolene Paonessa (Lodi/South Seneca) was 3rd in the Heptathlon.

Nagle scored 5,386 points over the ten events of competition.  His top scoring event of day two was the pole vault where he leapt 4.00 m to earn 617 points.  He finished 128 points behind the Region III Champion Joe Shinn (Herkimer CCC).

Ryan Seward (Corfu/Pembroke) finished 4th with 3,705 points.  He scored 524 points in the 1,500 with a time of 5:06.24.  Anthony Soto (Waterloo) who battled an injury throughout the competition finished 6th with 2,235 points.  He won the javelin with a toss of 41.17 m.

Herkimer leads the men's regional competition after the first event with 16 points followed by Alfred's 12.

Paonessa scored 2,458 points in the women's seven events which places her 6th all-time in Alfred State history.  She scored 397 points today in the javelin with a toss of 25.76.  Herkimer's Mary Lenhart won the competition with 2,816 points followed by her teammate Victoria Seabrooks with 2,615.

Brooke Kratzer (Canisteo Greenwood) scored 2,137 points, which is 7th all-time, and earned 4th place while Ella Donovan (Wanakena/Clifton Fine) scored 1,857 points.  Kratzer ran the 800 in 2:57.94 to earn 385 points while Donovan scored 272 points with a leap of 3.84 m in the long jump.

Herkimer leads the women's regional competition with 18 points followed by Alfred's 10.
