Lady Pioneers Sweep Elmira for 8th Straight
The Alfred State volleyball team defeated Elmira 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 on Wednesday evening. The Lady Pioneers now have won eight straight and improve to 11-2 on the year.
Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) led the way 10 kills and eight digs while Lera Braun (Waterloo) finished with 26 assists, six digs, and four service aces. Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) added six kills, Jess Ramsey (Tioga) had 14 digs, and Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) chipped in five kills.
Kierstin Derr led Elmira (2-11) with eight kills while Sami Hanes passed out 20 assists and was credited with 10 digs.
Alfred State, ranked #3 in the USCAA, heads to the SUNYIT Tournament this weekend. They play the hosts at 5 p.m. on Friday and Utica College at 7 p.m. The Lady Pioneers then battle Elmira at 11 a.m. on Saturday and SUNYIT at 1 p.m.
