Lady Pioneers Win 5-Set Thriller over Houghton

Alfred State kept their winning streak alive in a dramatic 5-set victory (25-23, 27-29, 25-16, 15-25, 15-12) over Houghton on Wednesday night. The Pioneers improve to 16-2 on the year and have won thirteen straight matches.

Jess Ramsey (Tioga) was key as she led all players with 31 digs. Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) finished with 27 digs and 16 kills, Lera Braun (Waterloo) had 41 assists, 19 digs, and six kills, and Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) finished with 13 digs and nine kills. Grace Hall (Ellicottville) had 11 kills and seven blocks and Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) chipped in seven kills.

Hattie Burgher led the Highlanders (9-8) with 11 kills and 24 digs while Hannah Compeau finished with 10 kills and 17 digs. 

The Lady Pioneers head to Mt. Aloysius on Saturday. They battle the Mounties at 10 a.m. and Shenandoah at Noon.
