Lady Spikers Win 18th

The Alfred State volleyball team defeated Keuka 25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 25-21 to earn their 18th victory of the season on Saturday morning. The Lady Pioneers are now 18-3 on the year.

The Lady Pioneers got solid contributions by the trio of Tioga High School grads, Kay Pfleghardt, Jess Ramsey, and Bryanna Godfrey. Pfleghardt recorded 12 kills and 17 digs, Ramsey had a game high 20 digs, and Godfrey connected on nine kills.

Lera Braun (Waterloo) passed out 34 assists and was credited with four aces and nine digs, Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) had six kills and six blocks, and Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) added 15 digs.

Devan Curtis led the Wolfpack with seven kills, Rachel Parker added 13 digs and 13 assists, and Katelyn Warren had six kills and four blocks on the day.

The Lady Pioneers, #3 in the latest USCAA poll, host a Pink Pride event on Friday evening when they tangle with Davis College. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the event and participate in fundraisers throughout the evening. Proceeds of the evening will go to the Allegeny County Cancer Services organization.
