Lady Spikers to Trade Blue and Gold for Pink on Friday

The Alfred State volleyball team will trade their traditional school colors, blue & gold, for pink on Friday evening when they battle Davis College. The Lady Pioneers PINK PRIDE game will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature several fund raisers to benefit the Allegany County Cancer Services.

This is the first year the Lady Pioneers have teamed with Allegany County Cancer Services. The mission of the Allegany County Cancer Services Inc. is to increase awareness of early, life-saving screening and treatment and assist Allegany Countyresidents with financial needs related to cancer issues. 100% of money collected will go to help people of Allegany County with services related to cancer.

There are four ways to help raise funds during this event.

  • Buy a Pink Pride t-shirt (price range from $12 - $16)
  • Participate in the basket raffle. The baskets will be designed and donated by the members of the Lady Pioneers volleyball team.
  • Participate in the Jar Wars competition. Put money in the jars of one of the following, College President Dr. Skip Sullivan, Athletic Director Dr. Kelly Higgins, Head Athletic Trainer Mickey Gingras, or volleyball coach Gene Doorley, and the person with the most money in their jar receives a pie to the face at the conclusion of the game.
  • Participate in the Pink Plane Game that will take place in between set 2 and 3 of the contest. Buy a pink piece of paper at the gate and the person that makes a pink paper airplane and throws it closest to Orvis will win a prize. ($1 per piece of paper).

Alfred State enters Friday's contest with a 18-3 mark on the year and the #3 ranking in the latest USCAA poll.
