Lady Pioneers Rally Past Tenn. Temple

The Alfred State volleyball team won the final two sets to rally past Tennessee Temple 22-25, 25-18, 15-6 in their second match of pool play at the USCAA Championships. The Lady Spikers finish day one with a 2-0 mark.

The Crusaders took the first set taking advantage of eight service errors to take the set. TTU led 11-10 in the second set but the Lady Pioneers scored the next nine points to take control of the set. In the deciding third set, Alfred State led throughout to claim the victory.

Jessica Padley (Sweet Home) and Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) were key in the victory. Padley finished with seven kills, six digs, and two aces while Hamilton had six kills, three digs, and two blocks. Lera Braun (Waterloo) passed out 22 assists, Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) had nine digs, and Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) had eight digs.

Alfred State, the #3 seed with a 24-4 overall record, continues pool play tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match vs. #5 Berea (KY) and a 2:30 p.m. battle with #1 seed Florida College.
