Game Notes:

  • This is the 3rd match-up between the two schools. Husson won a defensive battle 13-0 over Alfred State last year. The two teams will meet in Alfred next September.
  • The Pioneer defense gave up over 200 yards less vs. Rochester than they did in week one vs. Morrisville. The defense/special teams forced three turnovers unfortunately the offense only scored seven points off of those turnovers.
  • Husson had last week off after opening up the season at Alfred University on September 6th. The Saxons defeated the Hawks 34-17. 
  • Pioneer running back Rasheed Williams was named USCAA offensive player of the week for the second straight week after rushing for 130 yards and two scores last week. He has two straight 100-yard rushing games and six for his two-year career at Alfred.
  • Shabashe McIntosh could be an impact player both offensively and on special teams. He returned a kickoff 80-yards for a touchdown in their first game vs. Alfred University. 
  • Erik Simmons has caught both of Ben Wilkerson's touchdown passes this season. The growth of other options (Josh Ashley, Jason Gordon, Zack Goodwin, and Tavon Moore).
  • In last season's match, Alfred State was just 2 for 16 on 3rd down and 0 for 5 on 4th down. The Pioneers gained just 155 yards with Williams rushing for 126 of them. Keegan Phalen had a big day finishing with 17 tackles while Nick DePofi had 10. The contest also featured five lost fumbles, three by Husson and two by Alfred St.
