Eight Pioneers Named All-USCAA

Eight members of the 2014 Alfred State football team were named All-USCAA recently. All-USCAA honorees are chosen following voting from all USCAA colleges.

Rasheed Williams (Swedesboro, NJ), Jake Chapman (Rush Henrietta), Richard Miller (Whitney Point), and Danny Napolionello (Valley Stream) were 1st team selections. Keyshawn Baker (Binghamton/Seton Catholic), Marlon Hernandez (Bronx/Evander Childs) and Nick DePofi (Union Endicott) were named 2nd team while Matt Munson (Clyde Savannah) earned honorable mention honors.

Williams rewrote the record book this season. He rushed for 1,671 yards and 16 scores in nine games for the Pioneers. He rushed for over 100 yards in eight of the team's nine contests. He averaged 6.7 yards per carry and 185.7 per game. He also broke the school record with a 99-yard touchdown run vs. Castleton. During the season, Williams was named USCAA offensive player of the week five times.

Chapman, Baker, and Munson were key to the rushing success of Williams and the offense. Chapman and Baker anchored the line that averaged 187.7 rushing per game and scored 18 touchdowns while Munson was the lead blocker all season for Williams.

Miller appeared in all nine games as a nose tackle. He recorded 11 tackles on the season. He had a season high three tackles vs. St. John Fisher.

Napolionello made a successful transition to defense after playing offense his first two seasons at Alfred State. He recorded 37 tackles (19 solo and 3 for a loss) from his safety position. He interecpted one pass and broke up three others. He had a season high six tackles twice (vs. Apprentice and at Washington U).

DePofi started all nine games and led the Pioneers with 77 tackles (42 solo and 6.5 for a loss) from his middle linebacker position. He recorded 10 or more tackes in three games including a season high 14 tackles at the Apprentice School.

Hernandez was second on the team with 65 tackles (31 solo and 5 for a loss) from outside linebacker position. He recorded 10 or more tackles twice on the season including 14 vs. Apprentice.

The Pioneers finished the season with a 2-7 record.
