Football Makes Schedule Change

The Alfred State football team has made a schedule change for their contest on November 8th. The Pioneers were scheduled to travel to Maranatha Baptist but now will instead travel to Washington University in St. Louis.

Maranatha has dealt with roster and injury issues from the start of the season and has been forced to cancel two games, including a contest vs. Washington University. Alfred State will play the Bears at 6 p.m. on the 8th following a pair of soccer games at Francis Field. Washington originally had the weekend off but was looking for a tenth game after not playing Maranatha last weekend.

"Competing versus a well established DIII program like Washington University will only help the growth of our football program," said athletic director Kelly Higgins. "We had conversations with Maranatha and we agreed to work on pushing our existing agreement back a year so we can look forward to competing against Washington U this year, and Maranatha in 2015 & 2016."

Washington University in St. Louis is currently 2-4 on the season and will travel to face the University of Chicago this weekend.

Alfred State is also 2-4 on the year and will host St. John Fisher on Saturday in their 2014 home finale at 1 p.m.
