Williams Scores Three Times but Pioneers Fall to WashU

Rasheed Williams (Swedesboro, NJ) rushed for 236 yards and three scores as Alfred State fell 47-19 at Washington University in St. Louis. Williams has now rushed for over 100 yards in eight of the Pioneers nine games.

The Bears turned two early Pioneer turnovers into a 10-0 lead. Williams scored his first touchdown of the night with 1:57 remaining in the 2nd quarter when he capped a 61-yard drive with a six-yard run. Washington scored a touchdown in the final seconds of the half to make it a ten-point advantage at the break.

The Pioneers never could get any closer as the Bears scored the first ten points in the 3rd quarter and outscored Alfred St. 30 to 13 in the 2nd half.

Williams accounted for both of the Pioneers scores in the 2nd half. He rushed in from 50-yards out with one second left in the 3rd and ran in from five-yards out with 5:49 remaining in the contest.

Williams now has 1,676 yards (6.7 yards per carry) and 16 touchdowns on the season.

JJ Tomlin was 19 for 32 for 200 yards and two scores for Washington.  David Smith, Alex Graham, and Austin Smestad all recorded rushing scores while Chris Levine, Kevin Hammarlund, and Hank Childs all caught touchdown passes.

Marlon Hernandez (Bronx) led the Pioneers with nine tackles while Carl Williams (Greece Olympia) had eight tackles.

Patrick Cantwell had eight tackles for Washington. Fade Oluokun, Jonathan Way, and Dylan Petre all intercepted passes for the Bears.

The Pioneers head to Ohio Midwestern next Saturday to close out the 2014 season.
