DePofi to Play in National Bowl

Senior linebacker Nick DePofi (Union Endicott) will play in the National Bowl at Florida International Univiersity on Sunday morning. DePofi will play on the Red Nation team coached by Kevin O'Hanlon the coach of the Trenton Freedom (PIFL).

DePofi was named 2nd team All-USCAA recently after leading the Pioneers with 77 tackles (42 solo and 6.5 for a loss) from his middle linebacker position. He recorded 10 or more tackles in three games including a season high 14 tackles at the Apprentice School.

For his four year career, DePofi recorded 220 tackles (102 solo and 24 for a loss), five sacks, and intecepted one pass which he returned 80-yards for a score.

He is the third Pioneer in the last two years (Mike DeGroat and Devin Simmons played in the USA Football last year) to play in a senior game.

The National Bowl Game is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of top players from Non-FBS schools.  The 5th Annual National Bowl Game will be played at 10am on Sunday December 7, 2014 at  Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium in Miami, Florida. The National Bowl Game showcases All-American and All Conference seniors from around the Nation that travel to the game from over 30 states representing over 400+ Division 2,3, and NAIA schools. The National Bowl is the elite and only current post-season all star game to focus on players below D1/FBS that get the opportunity to play in front of several NFL and CFL scouts. 

The rosters gives NFL/CFL scouts a chance to view and get to know some of the best players from smaller schools over the bowl weekend. The game has scouts confirmed from the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, and 5 Canadian Football League (CFL) teams will be in attendance. 10 AFL and arena teams will also be in attendance such as the Tampa Bay Storm, Jacksonville Sharks, and New Orleans Voodoo making it the top Scouting weekend for Division 2, 3, and NAIA college seniors.
