Game Notes:

  • The Pioneers and Builders meet for the 4th time all-time in the first of two meetings during the 2014 season. Alfred St. leads the series 2-1 with the home team winning all three contests.
  • Rasheed Williams continued his unbelievable start to the 2014 season. He rushed for 260 yards and two scores last week in the Pioneers 36-23 loss to Castleton State. On the year he has rushed for 779 total yards and six scores.
  • Three different quarterbacks have earned starts for the Builders. The trio is completing nearly 62% of their passes and has thrown for a total of 760 yards. Deon Lavender who has passed for the most yards (326) is listed as the starter in the Builders two-deep.
  • Trevon Johnson leads the team with 16 catches for 363 yards and two scores.
  • Alfred State also features a QB battle as Jake Bahantka came off the bench last week and played the majority of the game. He was 17 for 34 for 212 yards and a 44 yard TD pass to Tavon Moore. Ben Wilkerson has started all four games and has completed 51.7 % of his passes and has five touchdown passes all to Erik Simmons.
  • The Pioneer defense is still looking to make more big plays. The team has only one sack and one interception on the season. The Pioneers have recovered five fumbles.
  • Last year's battle between Alfred State and Apprentice was a track meet featuring 1,089 yards of offense and 96 total points. The Pioneers rushed for 445 yards and the Builders passed for 342 yards.
  • The Pioneers and the Builders meet again on November 1st in Newport News, VA.

Record Watch: 

  • Williams needs only 221 yards to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark for the second straight season. He would become the first Pioneer to have two 1,000 yard rushing season. 
  • Williams needs just 85 yards to become the all-time leader in rushing in a career. LeRoy Collins currently holds the record with 1,880.
