Five Pioneers Named USA College Preseason All-Americans

Five Alfred State football players have been named to the 26th Annual USA College Preseason All-American list.

Quarterback Ben Wilkerson (Buffalo/Fayette Ware), running back Danny Napolionello (Valley Stream), wide receiver Erik Simmons (Elmira Free), and defensive linemen Desmond Radcliffe (Rochester/Freddie Thomas) were named the 2nd team while defensive back Gerard Bailey (Buffalo/MST Prep @ Seneca) was named honorable mention.

  • Wilkerson appeared in six games last year and completed 46 passes for 533 yards and five scores. 
  • Napolionello will return to the offensive side of the ball after playing defensive back last year. He recorded 37 tackles and an interception. Napolionello has played running back, wing back, quarterback, and defensive back during his three years at Alfred State.
  • Simmons led the Pioneers with 29 catches, 394 yards receiving, and six touchdowns. The 6-4, 220 lb. wide receiver played in only seven games last year.
  • Radcliffe (5-10, 290) made 11 tackles last year from his defensive line position.
  • Bailey appeared in all nine games last year and made 27 tackles (22 solo). He was credited with one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick.

The Pioneers open up camp on August 15th and will begin the 2015 season on September 5th when they host William Paterson.
