Game Notes:

  • Pioneers and Cardinals battle for the second straight season. This is the first non-Friday game at Growney Stadium since 1999.
  • Alfred State couldn't get the offense going in a 44-13 loss to Apprentice last Saturday. John Garbowski (14 tackles), Jake Dollard (12 tackles), and Kenneth Nelson (12 tackles) had big games on the defensive side of the ball. Garbowski was named the USCAA Defensive Player of the Week.
  • St. John Fisher won their second straight game and got back to .500 with a 32-27 victory last week. The Cardinals sit in 2nd place in the Empire 8.
  • This is the only night game on the Pioneers schedule - St. John Fisher played Brockport in Courage Bowl XI on September 26.
  • The Pioneer offense struggled last week but the team got a big play from Romiio Littlejohn and the special teams unit. Littlejohn returned a kickoff 82-yards for a score in the 4th quarter. Littlejohn garnered USCAA Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
  • Tony Fusco ran for 182 yards and had a career high 223 all-purpose yards last week. He now has seven 100-yard games in his two years at Fisher.
  • The Pioneers had the ball on offense for less than 20 minutes last week. Improvement on 3rd down will be key. Alfred State is just 18 for 91 on 3rd down on the season.
  • Brandon Miller had 13 tackles last week to lead the Cardinal defense. In four games this year he has 10 or more tackles and leads the team with 60 total tackles. Miller has 23 more tackles than any other player on the Cardinals.
  • John Garbowski continues to lead the Pioneers with 58 tackles. He leads the team with nine tackles for a loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles.
  • The defense has six interceptions, eight fumble recoveries, and five sacks on the season. The defense and special teams have each scored a TD this season.
  • Alec Mortillaro is tied for the Empire 8 lead with four interceptions. Three of his four interceptions have come in the last three games.
