Q&A with Danny Napolionello

Q&A with Danny Napolionello

Senior safety Danny Napolionello (Valley Stream) recently sat down and discussed the 2015 season and his career at Alfred State.

Napolionello recorded 28 tackles (16 solo tackles) for an average of 3.5 tackles per game this season. He had six tackles and fought to earn a fumble recovery against Husson.

During his four-year career, Napolionello spent time playing running back, quarterback, defensive back, kicker, and punter.

Overall, what are your thoughts on the 2015 season?

The 2015 season didn't go the way we planned but the new attitude and tradition brought this year prove that this program is going in the right direction.

What was your favorite memory of the 2015 season and for your career at Alfred State?

My favorite memory of the 2015 season was the family nights we did with the team, I can't get into detail because that's a privilege to know what goes on but the family nights we had are memories I will never forget.

On the field what did you learn from Coach Dodson and the coaching staff?

On the field, I learned more than I have learned my entire career. The knowledge I gained this year I feel I can coach a team myself.

Off the field what were some of the lessons you have learned from your football experience at Alfred State?

Off the field i learned how important metal toughness is. Going through all the troubles I did through college, I realized there is a bigger picture than just showing up.

How has the football program evolved during your time at Alfred State?

The football program has taken a total 360 turn from when I first started. Although I loved my old coaches like family, at the end of the day I can see this program being very competitive NCAA DIII in the near future.

What are some of your future plans?

My future plans are to start my career as an electrician, get married, start a family, and of course start coaching football.

How do you plan on staying connected to the football program once you graduate?

Since I live six hours away it will be hard for me to make it to every game in the future but I plan on staying in touch with all my coaches I have had this year and making it to as many games as I can.

What advice would you give an incoming freshmen entering Alfred State? Entering the football program?

The advice I would give to incoming freshman, first of all never ever give up. Second, remember why you are here, to get a degree and play football. Third, cherish your experience here because it goes way to fast.

What is the thing you will miss most about playing football at Alfred State?

The thing I will miss most about playing football is playing football with my family, the guys you grind with on the field are your brothers and you go to war with them every day not just every Saturday.
