Game Notes:

  • Alfred State returns to action after having a week off. The Pioneers fell to Brockport in their last contest.
  • Apprentice fell 35-2 last week at Louisburg College. The Builders have played four of their five games on the road this year.
  • The home team has won every game in this series. The two teams split a pair of games last year.
  • Ben Wilkerson and the Pioneer offense will look to continue some of the success of the past two games. Wilkerson has targeted Khris Greggs (21 catches for 290 yards) and Josh Ashley (21 catches for 250 yards). 
  • The Builders defense has struggled vs. the run thus far. Alfred State hopes that Joshua Hinds will get going. Hinds has rushed for 156 yards on 90 carries thus far this year.
  • The Apprentice rushing offense has averaged over 192 yards per game led by Dustin Hiner. Hiner has rushed for 309 yards on 62 carries.
  • The Builders passing offense has struggled throwing 11 interceptions already this season.
  • Steven Hubick had a big defensive contest vs. Brockport and now has 38 tackles on the year. John Garbowski leads the defense with 44 tackles and three sacks. The defense has forced 11 turnovers on the year.
  • Ryan Ransom is a force in the middle for the Builders. Ransom has 20 tackles and two sacks on the year. Apprentice has four sacks, three interceptions, and five fumble recoveries on the season.

  • Radio: WCKR 92.1 FM will be broadcasting the game. 
  • The Pioneers will welcome the Canisteo Youth Football League flag football team & cheerleaders to the game.
  • At halftime, Alfred State will celebrate the 20th anniversary of football at the college (1995-2015). Former coaches and players in attendance will be recognized. Any former coach or player that would like to attend needs to check in at the table at the gate to receive free tickets to the game.
  • The athletic department will induct the newest class of Hall of Fame members on Friday evening. The class includes former Pioneer football player Matt Hewitt. Hewitt is on the coaching staff at Dartmouth. Wrestler James Wheeler (1960-62), lacross player Steve Douglas (1999-2001), and volleyball players Brianne McMahon (2006-08) and Jenni Jerome (2007-09) join Hewitt in the Hall of Fame class. The 2006-2008 volleyball teams will also be honored at the event.
