Game Notes:

  • Alfred State and Brockport and tangle for the first time in the Pioneers NCAA DIII era. The Pioneers took on the Eagles JV team nine times when the team played at the NJCAA level.
  • The Pioneers are coming off a 35-20 set back last week at Castleton. Trailing 35-6, the blue & gold rallied but could not come all the way back. The offense had their best day of the season with 340 total yards and 20 1st Downs.
  • Brockport is coming off a tough 42-41 loss to St. John Fisher in double OT. The Eagles accumulated 443 yards of offense but was slowed down by three turnovers.
  • Ben Wilkerson passed for 306 yards last week. He targeted Khris Greggs six times for 124 yards and a score and Josh Ashley nine times for 111 yards.
  • Wayne Bonsell threw for 319 yards and three scores last week while Dan Andrews rushed for over 100 yards and two scores.
  • The Pioneer defense/special teams made three big plays last week. Donnell Scott intercepted a pass and set up a scoring drive, John Garbowski forced and recovered a fumble, and Zack Goodwin recovered his own on-side kick. The Pioneers will need to get some more pressure on the Brockport QB - the team hasn't recorded a sack since week one.
  • The Brockport defense has recorded 10 sacks, led by Tarik Bennett's 4.5, on the season while the offense has allowed just three. The defense has also come up with five interceptions, led by Julius Brunson's two.
  • The Pioneers have scored just twice in their six times inside the red-zone this season while the Eagles have scored 14 of their 19 times including 13 touchdowns.
